Fuori Milano (Ongoin project)

YvridismosIn greek language (Trad: "Ibrid/bastard"), is an attempt to produce an harmonious image of something that is clearly disjointed and distant, and meanwhile it investigates on new beauty standards. Artificial intelligence, in the same way, reworks heterogeneous elements according to an arbitrary mix. This project is the result of images created using an open-source AI software, mixing two basic elements: personal smartphone photographs and images of similar places found on web. Yvridismos extends the tangible limits of urban landscapes by exploiting the infinity of the datasource, generating unexpected scenarios and suggestions, thus reconnecting to mental places.

Displacements (2019–2021) is a metaphysical photo series obtained through a photographic glass prism, which is used to enclose the essential elements of the surrounding environment in a single shot. By identifying rhythms, shapes and contrasts, the result is a composition that expresses and maintains the dominant multifaceted effect of the urban environment, itself characterized by its contradictions and multiple surfaces. The represented environments are mostly non-places around Italy.

Alt_Ra, conceived by artist/curator Gabriele Barbagallo, aims to revisit the very concept of artistic exhibition. It was born from the impulse to explore new exhibition approaches, asking questions about the nature of invisible works of art. The goal is to experiment whether an invisible augmented reality work can actually exist.
Alt_Ra was first and foremost born as a collaborative experience, where participants embrace the idea of creating together, overcoming artistic individualism to embrace a collective vision.
The work can be viewed in augmented reality via qr-code link, without time limits.

Concept - Invisibile Pubblico
A curtain, conceived as a boundary between reality and fiction, opens onto a neighborhood on the outskirts of Milan, at an intermediate point between a cinema and the street.
The route to the cinema includes a degraded underpass, under which homeless people camp. This results in a duality between the aesthetics of the protected and recreational place represented by the cinema, and the concrete place where it is located: a deteriorated and publicly invisible street.
Therefore, the social question in a reality that masks and hides, through expedients of constant divertissement, is the main theme of the project. The synthesis of the research is achieved through the film posters, floating in front of the curtain, and revealing the reality of this place. Generated with AI prompts, they randomly report the texts of some of the numerous news items that have emerged on the web, aimed at denouncing the difficult housing issue in Milan, in which the numerous disused council houses and overpriced rents are some of the unacceptable impositions that have transformed the reality of its inhabitants.
